Description
Angela King, whose roots trace back to St. Ann and Morant Bay, Jamaica, has been bestowed with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. She has exemplified a steadfast commitment to justice and freedom throughout her life. Notably, in 1997, she assumed the role of Secretary General of the United Nations, where she served as a Special Adviser on Gender Issues and the Advancement of Women. Additionally, from 1992 to 1994, she played a pivotal role as Chief of the United Nations Observer Mission in South Africa, facilitating the transition from apartheid to democracy.
